That said, I had a Hamer w/a JBb/59n combo. I had a bit of a love/hate thing going with the JB. It sounded pretty cool straight into some of the older amps I had, especially a 78 Hiwatt through GB RI spkrs...that was the classic sound of old school hard rock!
On the amps w/more modern voicing, though, it hit me w/that icepick thing. Even an amp such as a friend's Marshall JMP MkII gave me a bit of that icepick. In addition, for me, it didn't clean up well.
I never tried the JB w/250k pots.
I eventually replaced the JB w/a Custom 5, which I have found suits my style better. The C5 doesn't split as well though!
				
			Also, the JB splits into a usable single coil better than any other humbucking bridge pickup I've ever used.
