How many of you have used a bridge pup in the neck?

Re: How many of you have used a bridge pup in the neck?

I would definitely try some combinations with the pickups you have on hand, I probably would never have tried the CC in the neck if circumstances hadn't sort of forced me to do it (I was anxious to get my guitar back together and the two neck pickups I had on hand wouldn't work for different reasons, I had the CC on hand so I just put it in the guitar so I could put it back together...glad I did!). You may find a new sound you weren't expecting as I did. That in mind, if you're looking for a warmer pickup to pair with the CC in the bridge, consider a Pearly Gates neck which was very warm, too warm for my guitar, but if the '59n wasn't warm enough for your guitar it might be just the thing. The CC is warm in the neck but also clear...I know that is saying thatiit's two things at once, but it is...try 'em all and have fun:)

I already tried a PGn in the neck in a similar guitar (not the same) and it wasn't warm enough for what I want in a neck pup. I actually thought the 59n was going to be warmer than the PGn, since the PGn has that "sizzle". Lo and behold, I was wrong. The 59n was even brighter!

So I take it that the CC will be brighter than the PGn?

I might just try a CC in the neck and JB on bridge since the JB is a little hotter than the CC. Btw, I already am loving the CC in the bridge as it stands right now. Initially I was worried about not having enough bass, but plugging into a closed-back cab, there's more than plenty of bass with that bridge pup. :)

Does a Burstbucker 2 count? That's the bridge pickup in a 1 & 2 set.

As much as I might think it's goofy to put, say, a '59 bridge in the neck, I'll do the Burstbucker thing, or I'll put an EMG 85 -- a great bridge pickup -- in the neck of another guitar. It's just a hangup of mine that I can get around as long as the manufacturer hasn't presented a rule saying, "This is a bridge model." That's a rule I've observed mainly stemming from a lack of familiarity with a pickup on my part and a desire to use it the "right" way at first, to get a feel for what it's supposed to do.

I just put an APH-1b in the neck of my Epi LP. Haven't put in a enough time to say yet whether this is a win or a fail yet. But it was just sitting around and I was not happy with the neck pickup in that guitar, so I thought, why not? It can't hurt to try it.

Demon and PG+ are my favorite pickups in the neck.

Not only a pickup in the neck position, but there was an active pickup in the bridge. Both pots were volumes, one was 500k and one was 25k.

Ah yes Dominus! I have done that too, the active-passive pups and they work fine. The guitar I did it on only had one volume pot so I put the Passive direct out and a 25k. The volumes are balanced, the only place where the one I did sounded a little off was when both pups were on.

I remembered wiring 2 PATB-2's (theyre only made for bridge) in a Yamaha for Arturo Maucinitt. They both sound great, you can hear them here:

i just got a Black winter for a bridge and I moved the Gibson Tony Iommi sig pup that was in the bridge to the neck and no me gusta haha its a bit too much in that spot...its frickin rad in the bridge tho, ill probably just take it out and save it.....I have a '59 in the neck of another guitar and that pretty much sets the standard for neck tones for me

jUST PUT A GIBSON 57 CLASSIC PLUS IN THE NECK HAD TO LOWER THE PICKUP AND THE SCREWS TO MATCH THE BB3 IN THE BRIDGE OTHERWISE SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD
