How much do new jack assemblys for LP's cost to install?

I'm looking to buy a switchcraft type female jack for my guitar, and the entire assembly (mine is cracked). The binding is cream, and the assembly surrounding the jack is cream too. So three questions:
1. Where can I get this assembly (I have no idea what the name is)?
2. How much does it cost?
3. Can I install it myself easily, or does it need somebody experienced?

Thanks guys. I hope this isn't confusing. The cream part around my jack is cracked, and the cord can wiggle slightly. So while my guitar was at the shop the other day, the owner was checking it (and he liked it btw, which was cool), and he told me to get a new jack. So I don't know exactly how to do this.

Thanks!

The plastic plate is called a jack plate and is sold seperately from the 1/4" Switchcraft jack. You should be able to find the jack plate at an authorized Gibson dealer locally.

You can also order both parts at most major chains but the wait will kill you. GC often runs 6-8 weeks for special order parts.

You can olso order the parts online from either www.stewmac.com or www.allparts.com and StewMac is usually at my front door delivered in 3-5 business days.

There are many other online sources as well.

The jack plate is attached by four screws and the 1/4" jack has a retaining nut that holds it on. There are two solder joints that connect it to the guitar. If you can solder, you can replace it easily.

Wow that answer was pretty much perfect! Thanks bro!

I've seen the jack plates before, but they didn't look right (because the only ones I'd seen were chrome). So I didn't know if they actually were the proper part. But in cream, it looks right.

Thanks again!
