How Much Space for Ventilation

I have a Vox AC30, which has top-side vents. I can't stack anything on top of it, but I'd like to have that option for the sake of convenience.

If I put a couple blocks on top of the AC30, will I have enough space to properly vent it? How much space does an amp need to give it enough ventilation?

Re: How Much Space for Ventilation

What you might want to consider- just as a precaution is one of those little clippy fans you can get at any drug store or the dollar store or whatever. I wouldn't clip it onto the amp itself, but just blowing enough air into the amp to force ventilation...

The 2x4s should be fine....Stand them on end instead of flat and you should be ok...

Re: How Much Space for Ventilation

Using 2x4s on end sounds like it would make for a wobbly situation.

Not if you're gentle and careful....:nana:

Ok.....How about stacking 2 2x4s on top of each other on each side of your amp?

ac30's used to always run hot, not sure about the new ones. a little clip fan isnt a bad idea

The old early ones weren't vented....Marshall/Korg has fixed that problem over the years though...Shouldn't even really be an issue!
