How often do companies release new products?

Do companies update or release new versions of their products? One of my friends wants to buy a Boss ME-70, but is afraid that a new version or something better will come out soon. Should he go for the me-70 now or wait for something new?

Don't forget that this is the guitar world - the older gear is better, and if it contains parts that are no longer made, or is now made in a different country it's better still.

Rarely does the digital stuff get worse.

Roland is probably due for an update on the ME series, that stuff was based on the GT-10 which was replaced by the GT-100 about a year ago.

There are no hard and fast rules on this. If any company devises some innovation, they will put it out to get the market advantage. Launches are often timed to coincide with major music trade shows.

The best way to keep up to date is to visit the manufacturer's website frequently or subscribe to their e-newsletter.

I think Digitech is WAY overdue with a replacement for the RP500/RP1000 series. That's over 5 years old.

We release stuff because we're psyched about it and think others might be too. lol

If your friend finds the ME-70 to suit his needs , then tell him to buy it. never wait around for the "new one" , you'll always be waiting.
I picked up the Boss GT-10 about a year ago right when the GT-100 came out. I've been using it for a year now and now I'm considering upgrading to the GT-100. All this time I got to learn and enjoy everything the GT-10 has to offer.
