How to age new cream humbucker rings

I assumed this was a previous topic but the search is giving me a hard time.

Currently I have an older aged neck pickup ring from an Ibnez artist. I do not have the bridge ring. I've bought a replacement but it looks way different. Not up close as they're both cream but looking at it remotely closely you can see the yellowing and age of the original neck ring.

Is there a simple way to age the new bridge ring to match the 1983 original ring?

Haven't tried these ideas, but... maybe heavily diluted furniture stain? Or very diluted acrylic/guoache paint?

FWIW - I once was spraying shellac on an art project and the overspray covered a white strat pup cover nearby and it turned a vintage yellow within a few weeks.

TLD has it right
there was a thread about three years ago
where one of the forum bro's used soaking in strong coffee with great results

soak it for a couple of hours
dry
check

repeat as necessary

By the logic of this thread, the top of my gas stove should have turned an aged cream colour too.

I did that with some white strat hardware (vol/tone, and pup covers) several years ago and think I posted something....not sure if it was me being referred to, but that method does work well. I think I soaked for about 24 hours. 48 would have been better.

Not sure how long I would do pup rings.

I say boil because that's what a buddy of mine did with great success... But if you can get the same results with cold coffee then definitely do that.

Let us know how it turns out dude!

Re: How to age new cream humbucker rings

it would seem the heat would distort the plastic ring
