Re: How to dual coil split and series/parallel
Option 4/5: toggle switches instead of push pulls for Options 2/3.
I haven't used the Triple Shots, as the guitar I did this in had a pickguard and I could (somewhat) easily drop in 4 switches (2 per humbucker).
I like the toggle switches because I can flip to any state with one motion of my picking hand. If I need series or parallel both switches move in the same direction to each other - both towards me for series, away for parallel. If I want to pick a coil I flip the one toggle (depending on the current state of the switches, i.e. series or parallel or a different coil). Even when picking a different coil, where I need to toggle each switch in the opposite direction to each other, it's not a difficult thing to do with my fingers in one motion.
Unless you don't use a pick or you're able to drop your pick into your palm you probably won't be able to make the same kind of one motion change as with toggle switches. And you definitely can't do that with push/pull pots, unless you happen to be going to the state where both pots are pushed in, in which case you can smack them both at once
The huge benefit of Triple Shots and push/pulls though, is you don't need to drill holes into your guitar

And realistically, most of the time I'm switching to single coil, then back to series, so the Triple Shots or push/pulls would be more than adequate to do that on the fly.
Also, with Triple Shots you don't have to figure out the wiring

And you will probably never have to worry about a pickup not having enough lead wire to reach your control cavity, since you wire the pickup to the mounting ring - yay!
