Is it possible to dual coil split and series/parallel two humbuckers i want the choice to choose between the north and south coil on both pickups and the choice to parallel either pickup say one is split or not and the other is switched to parallel or just having split neck to say north coil and bridge to series is this possible? What would i need

Triple Shots!!

No additional switches needed. Simple. Quick. Effective!

Option 1: Triple Shot Rings.
Option 2: 2 pull/pushes but, you get same combinations for both pickups at once.
Option 3: 4 pull/pushes but, you get independent combinations for each pickups.

Option 4/5: toggle switches instead of push pulls for Options 2/3.

I haven't used the Triple Shots, as the guitar I did this in had a pickguard and I could (somewhat) easily drop in 4 switches (2 per humbucker).

I like the toggle switches because I can flip to any state with one motion of my picking hand. If I need series or parallel both switches move in the same direction to each other - both towards me for series, away for parallel. If I want to pick a coil I flip the one toggle (depending on the current state of the switches, i.e. series or parallel or a different coil). Even when picking a different coil, where I need to toggle each switch in the opposite direction to each other, it's not a difficult thing to do with my fingers in one motion.

Unless you don't use a pick or you're able to drop your pick into your palm you probably won't be able to make the same kind of one motion change as with toggle switches. And you definitely can't do that with push/pull pots, unless you happen to be going to the state where both pots are pushed in, in which case you can smack them both at once ;)

The huge benefit of Triple Shots and push/pulls though, is you don't need to drill holes into your guitar :) And realistically, most of the time I'm switching to single coil, then back to series, so the Triple Shots or push/pulls would be more than adequate to do that on the fly.

Also, with Triple Shots you don't have to figure out the wiring :) And you will probably never have to worry about a pickup not having enough lead wire to reach your control cavity, since you wire the pickup to the mounting ring - yay!

Awsome! All i can say is this forum is the best
Is there a wiring diagram any of you know about? Triple shots sound good and sorry i should have said my current setup which is a fender telecaster blacktop although i dont mind drilling new holes for extra pots im used to the 4 pot 2 humbucker setup.
I will be installing anOther volume pot so i have two volume pots and one tone which im also thinking of installing one of these: http://www.guitarelectronics.com/pr...de-High-Low-Pass-Tone-Control-For-Guitar.html

Thank you all

Re: How to dual coil split and series/parallel

Also my pick ups are bill lawrence xl500 and R500 both very good for coil splitting dont reduce in volume too much and sound amazing they also do have a difference in north and south coils one is thicker and one is thinner its good for cleans, funk in middle position these pick ups are very versatile i want to try parallel for the first time to see if i can get a decent reggae tone, so then i can play hard rock when i want or even funk/reggae these are capable they just need a little less power and more jangly
