How to Identify a 4conductor pup

How would I know if my Duncan pup is a single conductor or 4 conductor? My pearly gates pup has a black cable but I can't see in unless I peal of some of the cable that covers the inside.The case label seems to have a misprint that says it is single conductor (from what I hear from the customer service).Please help me identify.

if it's black, then it should be a 4 conductor.... single conductor is has braided wire on the outside with black PVC covered wire on the inside of it. You should be about to look at the end of the wire and see 4 wires

And this is a problem because.....?

Trim off an inch of the outer black tubing and see what's inside.
