If I want the end result to have a four conductor wire, should I order the 59 with 4 or 2 (the custom 5 come with a 4 con. standard)?
depends on what you want. generally 500k is brighter, and 250k is warmer. do a search, there are tons of info on the matter.
I think it's time to Vault this thread, don'cha agree?
How about a compromise, and sticky it.
It's closer in tonality to strat single coils than your typical humbucker, and with a 7.2k coil and a low-4k coil, you can choose what kind of in-between sound you want. 7.2k would be like a vintage wound strat compensated bridge pickup, mid-4k would be good for quack in position 2, but not really great by itself.
So to answer you question: It agrees with singles coils better than any humbucker you'll find out there with the exception of the p-rails.
BachToRock, have you tried (or considered) making a hybrid out of an A2Pn and a PG1n? my understanding is that they're very similar, with the PG's slightly higher res. peak giving it a slight honk in the treble... in your experience, would you still get the benefits of a more mis-matched hybrid from this setup with the 2 coils involved being so similar to begin with? this is Re a set for an LP, i'm tossing up between another JB/CC in the bridge and a neck hybrid or just going stock with a C5/PGn set.
...it's my first post, please be gentle
am moving house, and will then make a JB/DDn hybrid which will rule the earth with an iron fist.
