how to make a pickup rwrp?

A mate wants me to fix the hum problem he has on his bass (2 single coil pickups) and I was thinking maybe I could make one of the pickups rwrp. Is this simply a matter of flipping the pickup around or do I have to flip the magnet inside?

To make it RW would involve revoving the wire and rewinding the coil in the opposite direction. Flipping the mag would give you the RP

ok so how can I make it noise cancel with the other pickup? If i flip the magnet and then wire it with the ground and hot reversed will this work?
