how to make combo amp a speaker cab?

I like my epiphone valve jr head, but i hate running it through a single speaker on my solid state combo. I've heard you can modify a combo with a switch to make it bypass the amp and still have that combo to switch back to. If i can do this i can run my head through both speakers and display it on top like a 2X12 stack instead of hiding it behind due to the length of the speaker's cable.

it shouldn't be that hard. just don't plug in your combo at the same time.
