I understand the foot print of the plastic mounting ring fits P90. but what about screw holes?

What kind of P-90 are you talking about? There are three different types of P-90 mounts: dog-ear, adjustable direct-mount (using inserts into the body), and the pickguard mount (a hybrid of the first two).

direct mount,
that's the kind that can be replaced by a mini humbucker with a ring, I think.

The adjustable direct-mount? You would nee to drill the four mounting holes.

but I don't see mounting holes in the plastic ring.
