You can't split a pickup with two leads; it's electronically impossible.
To do it, you need to convert to three leads, and you might as well make it four+ground while you're in there.
Not long ago, I wrote long-winded instructions on how to do the conversion. It's not hard, but it does take some time, some materials, and some fine and awkward soldering. So people don't get sick of it being re-posted, I'd suggest searching for it.

Why I wonder is because sometime in the past, I attempt to wire the electronics of my lespaul, I notice the bridge has significant output drop and sound very trebly. I bring it to a luthier and they fix it. Now, I miss that sound and I ask them to undo what they did but fail to make it sound like before.
