The boys havent jammed since July so I'm bringing my Rivera back from the practice room. Can I use an attenuator or something else as a dummy load for the speaker and just use line out into my Mbox? Essentially , I'm just looking for a safe way to mute the amp.

Most attuenators have a line out as long as its still hooked up to a speaker load you can turn the attuenator down to zero for no volume out to the speakers (while the amp still see's the load) and use the line out. I'm sure you can do this with Weber MASS's and Hotplates.

Does your line out work with the amp's volume on zero? If not, weber MASS.

The amp needs to be plugged into something or else the transformer can fry. An attenuater isn't the same as a speaker cabinet.

Well, some of them are. Thw Sequis Motherload for example. You can completely replace the speaker cab with that, then use it as a DI with a built in speaker simulator.

Yes, but what if I keep the speaker plugged in and just put the volume on zero?
