Hails Guys! How Are Yah?
this is my first time with a tube head and i want to test it with my digital delay.
and later, with a phaser and a equalizer. all of them BOSS.

digital delay dd-3 has the following plugs : output, input, direct out.
i know that i need to plug it into the effects loop of the 5150. but , it has 2 plugs.. send and return
how do i do that and how many cables i need to do that?
any help will be appreciated.

Send to the input, return to the output.

Re: How to use pedal with the 5150 head?!

sorry man, i still didn´t understand... can you make a ****ing draw of it?
ehehehehehehehehehe
guitar---pedal input---send /pedal output---return? how many cable will i need to do that? 4?
and, if i want to plug a tubescreamer and a phaser?!

Re: How to use pedal with the 5150 head?!

I didn't even know the 5150 had a loop! But if it does, you want to connect the Loop Send to the Input on the DD-3, and the Loop Return to the Output of the DD-3. The Direct Out is only for the delay sound, so if you hooked it up to your amp you would only get the echoes I believe, but I've never tried it.

So it should look like this:
AMP LOOP DD-3
fx send ----------------------->Input
fx return <----------------------Output

OK, but WHERE THE Cable thats comming from the guitar is plugged in!?
The cable from the guitar goes to the regular input like it would if you weren't using the pedal, that doesn't change at all.

Well if the DD-3 is in the loop, the guitar is just plugged straight into the Amp's input.

Ahhhhh ok, so.. if i want to put a eq pedal to shape the distortion.. should i do it in the front of the amp or in the loop effects? if in the loop? how to proceed?
and.. if i want to place a phaser pedal together with the delay... i just have to add it to the loop chain right?

First question: if you want to use an EQ to shape the tone, you'll get the most effect in the loop, but if you put it in front of the amp instead of in the loop it will be subtler and you won't notice the change as much.

Second: Yes, if you want to use a phaser you can use it in the loop with the delay as well. Or you could put it between the guitar and the amp's input too. I'm not sure how each would affect the sound, as I've never used a phaser though.

Re: How to use pedal with the 5150 head?!

As a rule, effects and things that color/shape your sound go in the loop....delay/chorus/flange/EQ and drives/boosts/wah's go in front of the amp. But try them different ways.....those old Marshalls didn't have loops and guys ran everything in front of the amp. An EQ in front of the amp will actually give you a gain boost.....kind of fun! But in the loop you can shape and get a "volume" boost as well. Try the phaser in front and in the loop to see which you like better. All about preference really.

Yah Buckeydog... "those old Marshalls didn't have loops and guys ran everything in front of the amp. An EQ in front of the amp will actually give you a gain boost.....kind of fun! " ahahaha i used to do that with my old Crate Gx 80.
it had no loops effects
ahahaha thank´s!!!

Re: How to use pedal with the 5150 head?!

If you still dont get it.

Guitar - input of amp, phaser, or tubescreamer. Hook those up like normal, and into the input of the amp.
Peavey 5150 send - input of the DD-3
Peavey 5150 return - output of the DD-3

Ignore anything that's not listed, besides the speaker output. It's really not that hard.
