Hey i just got my pre-wired pickguard from guitarfetish along with a new output jack. I noticed this jack has three lugs, so i just wired the ground to the middle lug and the hot output to the 1st lug (looking with the lugs pointing toward me and at the top of the circle). I plugged her in and gave a few taps--no output.

does anyone know how to wire a Switchcraft style jack as a guitar output?

here's a pick of how the 3-lug jack looks. one lug connects to a little plate touching the inside of the jack. when you plug something in, the plate and the jack are apart.

Re: how to wire Switchcraft style jack?

Thats not really the type of jack you should use in a guitar. It was designed for an input jack to an amp. That way, when you unplug the guitar cable, the input lug shorts to ground to mute the amp. I would just acquire the proper jack.

However, you can use that one if you wire it correctly. Look closely at the metal inner sleeve. You'll see one lug connected to it. (Actually, it will be one single piece of metal.) Then look closely at the "curly" lug. You should be able to see which lug it connects to. Use that for the output. You don't need to connect anything to the "switch" tab.

If you look closely at the plug "sideways", you can easily see which goes where.
