How versatile is a wilkinson really?

I don't rely on a whammy bridge but it's nice to have. I'm accustomed to a floyd but I've found that when I owned one I didn't use it that much.

now that it's gone, I really miss it.

But, with a wilkinson can you still do decent dive bombs, harmonic pull ups, downs, flutter, etc. I know it won't do it to the extent that a floyd will, but let me know, I don't have much experience with them.

That's correct.
For subtle trem work, it's fine. It will do dive bombs, to a certain extent.
But the feel is nothing like a Floyd; it's much more of a traditional trem.

Thanks man. I fixed my obvious grammer errors above. Sometimes I type faster than my brain can come up with the words so it comes out like a different language. lol

I'll put some thought into it. I like the idea of a more traditional trem where the balancing act isn't so hard to do. But then again I might just have to spring for a floyd again.

I ask because a floyd equipped Carvin DC127 is lookin' pretty good right now. I miss my shredder axe that much.

would an extra routed traditional trem get into floyd territory? Just curious and it's relevant to the current topic. Like those floyd roses that have a large hole for endless whammy room, except with a traditional trem. The hole wont need to be as big either because a strat trem is smaller.

No, it's more about the actual physics and design of the bridge. There could be all the room in the world and a wilkinson still won't do everything a floyd can.
