How well does a 59neck blend with a SSL-1 vintage staggered?

I have an ibanez rg570 (hum-sing-hum) with a 59 (sh1n) in the neck,
the stock S1 pickup in the middle (close to the dimarzio class of 55 I believe),
and a duncan distortion (tb-6) in the bridge.

Right now the blend between the 59 and the S1 is not bad. The S1 lacks bass which it gets
when blended with the 59.

However, I have a few questions and appreciate any help--thanks in advance:

(1) I read somewhere on this forum that Ibanez pickups are reverse wound? and that this is a problem
when mixng them with duncans? Is this true?

(2) MORE importantly, however, How well does a 59neck blend with a SSL-1 vintage staggered?
I know the ssl-1 is not as hot as the 59 and is not hum canceling, but do some people have this combo and like the blend?

Thanks,
Bubba

All I can say is . . . it blends with a Cool Rails beautifully. :laugh2:

Seriously though, the SSL-1 has that classic chimey, jangly sound that Strat singles are known for. I would imagine that it would enhance any 'bucker that it was mated with.

I can't imagine that you'ld go wrong with it in any configuration. ;)

I find the SSl-1 to be a wonderfully articulate pickup. You're obviously going to get a volume drop compared to the humbuckers, but I can't see how you can go wrong with them really.

I guess if I used the Vintage Rails instead it should should close to the vintage staggered, right?

I would go with the SSL-2, actually. The SSL-1 sounds great, but the flat version will get along better with the radius on your Ibanez and will have a bit more mids to it, helping it to keep up with the 59 a bit better.
