In a Basswood guitar? These 2 pickups seem to be among SD's darkest, and they seem to be a great fit for my bright Axis.

The C5 is not dark at all, its actually kind of bright!!!! You may be thinking about the CC.

If you do not need a ton of output try the Blues Trembucker, or try the Dimarzio Super3. The Super 3 has a ton of output with very rolled back highs, I had one in a strat body with a Floyd and it was very full sounding.

the cc comes to mind when taming a bright guitar. more low mids with rounded highs and somewhat less bass. the invader has a higher output. more bass and mids and it is really aggressive.

other than sd, there is the dmz air/tone zone, breed as well as rio grande bbq. all are good for taming a bright guitar.
