How would this sound??

Re: How would this sound??

Like an underwound Brobucker maybe?

You haven't put it into a guitar yet, so it doesn't sound like anything so far.

Re: How would this sound??

how would it be wound? there's scatterwinding, unevenly wound coils, wind tightness, all that sort of stuff to consider.

Re: How would this sound??

Same wind as a JB? I'm going to assume same materials as well.

For one, it'll make a terriffic neck pickup, as the low end should be nice and tight and the pickup should have a pronounced upper midrange and treble response. Credit the alnico 5, 43AWG wire,

Re: How would this sound??

HiOrder pickups already has this. It's called the Maximus wind, by winding as much 42 around a bobbin as it can fit.

Re: How would this sound??

you can actually fit a little more than 5k worth of #42 wire on a bobbin but you are very limited to what pattern you use. the jb uses thinner wire so getting 4.75k on a bobbin would leave plenty of room. it would not sound much like a 59b or anything else that i can think of.

it could be a nice hot neck pup

Same wind as a JB

I don't think it would be a good match with a JB wind. Much too bright!

An A8 magnet would compensate, but I'm not sure of the outcome...

I think you want an overwound Jazz with an A8 magnet. That would fit the bill.
