please post comments on how you like the aph-1n in the neck of a guitar, in which guitar and whay, and how it sounds compared to what.

To me the AP2 is bassier overall than the '59 setup but more balanced across the strings. But I like the sound of both. I have some comparison clips that I sometimes post ... I'll spare you guys the repeat post. But if you search for AP2 and my user name they're out there. I actually posted AP2n, 59n and 59b ... all in the neck. Might give you a reference if you have heard either of the '59 models in the neck.

To me, it sounds exactly like a stock LP Custom humbucker from the late 60s or early 70s: A touch vintage and a touch bassy but old Gibson humbucker all the way. This is NOT to say it sounds anything like a PAF. Rather, it's closer to very old T Tops.

EXACTLY how i feel about it. I have mine in a '61 reissue SG. Started with 57 classics (not bad at all but i have to mess with stuff), '59 was ok but i was missing low end, phat cat was cool and i usually have a hot single in the neck of most of my guitars but this one sounds better with buckers. The ApH-1 sounds awesome and full both clean and driven hard (i would say my sounds are "hard rock"-ish)

the APH-1(n) really sings with distortion, and does great jazz (a la Pat Metheny/Pat Martino). Very warm tone with lot's of push in the mids. THe bass is described as "spongy" which is nice as opposed to being boomy. Doesn't have a lot of air in the top end, but a nice hint of it. Single coil each coil gives a nice tone. The inside coil (lugs) has a little more of a Fendery sound than the neckside coil (screws) which is a bit more articulate. Very dynamic to the touch. Like it better than the stock neck p/u in my mid-late 60's ES335 which is a bit boomy.

My favorite neck pickup by far. I like the Pearly Gates for it's clarity and power, the Jazz for its ariness, but the APH-1 with its mids just captures my ear instantly.

Sounds FANTASTIC!! Nice warm cleans and sounds totally creamy for leads.
I have it in my LP and LOVE it!!
