Hows about a lil stab at the Hendrix legacy

Here is Planet K and our very non-traditional take on my favorite Jimi song ever. This was recorded last week at a club, came out cool, so I thought I would post it. This tunes showcases the insane talent of Nate Pate on lead guitar. His solo to end the tune is among the best I have ever heard.... I totally laughed when I heard the track... I am very fortunate to have a player and friend as good as that guy. We spend a ton of time just jamming on this stuff, Peter Gaard on drums and Willie Murphy on bass the lay the pocket so well.

I AM A HAPPY MAN....

So here it is, in all of its indulgent splendor...

Many thanks!!

I really wish it was on video, it would have been fun. We just recorded off the board miix, it came out better than I thought it would. An attentive soundman makes all the difference!

Thanks man.... Much more fun in a packed room, but we tend to play it hard whether there is one or 1000

That's killer. I've listened to it a few times now. It's a sweet evolution of my favorite Hendrix song. :D

What guitars/amps were used?

Hey guys, the band is thrilled with the response, as am I. :)

Tom,

As far as gear goes, Nate is running his Mex Strat with a 1970 Traynor Bassmate.2 12 AX7 + 2 EL84. 3 knobs cranked, simple as can be.

I am useing an Epi V with my 68 Traynor Bassmaster. 2 EL34 and 3 12ax7s. Quite Plexi like in many regards, little different in the mids and fatter on the low end.

Nate does the first verse 'vocal' lead guitar. I do the 2nd solo, came out of it to abruptly, but that is the fun of jamming, you never quite know where you will land. The Nate finishes up with his bass-azz solo on the end. He throws a couple Machine Gun licks in there, which had me totally grinning in amazement... He is crazy good, both lead and rhythm.
