HS combination SSL-5 or SSL-5 rwrp

Hi!
I'm working on a HS strat project and plan to use an pearly gates, 59 or custom in bridge position and an SSL-5 in the neck. My question is should I use the ssl-5 or ssl-5 rwrp?

Regards, Niklas

Are you planning to split the Humbucker for the middle position?

If so, do you know if you will split to Slug or Screw? If not, it doesn't matter and just get the cheaper SSL-5.

Standard is to split to the Stud, which is North. The Standard SSL-5 is South, so if you split to Stud it should cancel hum.

If the humbucker doesn't have a cover then it can easily work with either version of the single that is purchased. You simply flip the magnet and swap black with green depending on which coil you want to use.

Also, there's no rule that says you must connect the red/white pair to ground and not hot, or that you can't connect the black and green together and use that for the split (to either ground or hot).

Thanks for your replies :-) I'm a beginner at this. I'm not going to coil split. The setup I'm going for is to install an dpdt switch on/on for series/parallel humbucker, a 3-way switch, b500 pot for volume with resistor in series for the single coil and a500 for tone with 0.022 cap. I don't really know how this'll work out but I'll guess I'll find out :-). This is my second guitar build (first one was a cheap Chinese thing from eBay trying to learn how a guitar works). This time I'm starting from scratch with a used body and neck, got all the parts except for the pups. I'm going for a little road trip in NJ and NY( I'm from sweden) in a few days and hopefully I'll find a dealer along the way and I'll get the pups then, not having to pay the shipment and customs :-) Thanks again!

So, if no splitting, get the regular SSL-5.

Even if splitting but no cover, still get the SSL-5.

Also, because it produces a lot of output in the neck position, I'd go with a hotter than vintage pickup in the bridge. The Custom should work just fine.

If you plan on splitting, I think the slug coil sounds better, so going with the standard wind/polarity will mean no additional work required for hum-cancellation.
