Just wanting to share my personal experience with an HSH combo I am really liking a lot and maby hear from you of ones that worked for you. In my case it is the JB / SSL-6 / Alnico ii Pro, I am using it my Charvel SoCal 2014.

Jazz neck was a great pickup on its own but Jazz neck was a great pickup on its own but I wanted something with more mids and bit less treble and the Alnico ii Pro seems to make a good match for the JB. Both have a good dose of mids and both shine under high gain.

Then comes the SSL-6 in the middle, it is not super brigth as an SSL-1, it actually sounds very dark (for a single coil) but combined with A2P in split mode really creates a sweet spot of clarity. In the past I ha used Jazz split with SSL-1 in middle, it was nice itself for the clean channel but too bright in the chrunch channel which i usually EQ in favor of humbuckers. Now the A2P split + SSL-6 is clear and articulate while for me I can still use it in the crunch channel of the amp and back the volume knob and a usable tone. It is quacky, I am not missing my Stratocaster for position 2 sounds.

Then the A2P neck sounds great in clean and also in mild crunch tones. So I may be playing rythm in position 2 (A2P split + SSL-6) and swithc to A2P neck for an bit of push in the mids to make some "clean leands" a bit more noticeble thanks to the extra mids. On high gain it really shines, I don't care if it is not your typical shredded kind of pickup, I am loving it. Rolling back the tone goes very Santana.

And finally the JB. There is not much to say about it that has not been said already. Punchy and crunchy, rock and roll, high gain is where it really stands out imho. It may not be the best one for cleans or mild crunch sounds but it gets the job done.

Bottom line, this combo is versatile enough and really ejoying the tone.

Anything you want to share on your favorite HSH combo?

Probably Sentient/SSL2/Distortion. That being said, I've never tried that combo because HSH isn't really my think, but from what I've played of them on their own, I'd say that's a pretty safe bet.

Your combination at first glance looks pretty unconventional, but I could definitely see it working in the right instrument.
