Wow, that really seems like a useful scheme for an HSH. I bet other people here could use this idea as well.Occasional lurker here. I don't do custom wiring schemes as much as I did years ago, but I did a HSH one recently that I've never seen anywhere: the two HBs on a 5-way giving the PRS combinations, and a push/pull to swap in the middle single in positions 2-4.
push/pull pushed push/pull pulled 1. neck HB neck HB (unchanged) 2. HB outer coils neck outer + middle single 3. both HBs middle single 4. HB inner coils bridge inner + middle single 5. bridge HB bridge HB (unchanged)
One of the HBs has the magnet flipped, so all positions except the single coil alone are hum canceling.
It's a Jazz in the neck, a Custom alnico 8 in the bridge, and a Rio Grande single. Sounds pretty good.
I ended up with one bank on the superswitch unused, so I wired in different tone caps for different positions. The 2-4 positions were very bright...
This seems like the best arrangement for HSH I've seen. All 5 of those would be useful to me.Dang. Now I'm wanting an HSH.
If I had one, I'd probably do a mag flip on the neck, so it would be hum-cancelling with the bridge when split to inner coils. Also, I'd use a neck pup in the middle so it would also be hum-cancelling when used with the neck or bridge stud coils. Then I'd use a Superswitch, and do:
1. Bridge
2. Bridge (inner coil) + middle
3. Bridge / Neck (inner coils)
4. Neck (inner coil) + middle
5. Neck
That should yield a pretty good selection of tones with just Vol /Tone / 5-way. All positions humbucking.
I see an HSH in my future. This seems like the best arrangement for HSH I've seen. All 5 of those would be useful to me.
Former version of that guitar was sooooo messy or complicated with its 2 hum and 2 singles and many controls, you knowI kinda also like the HSH arrangement on the Steve Morse Y2D, with the middle single moved toward the bridge. It actually sounds really good.
