HSH Ibanez wiring help

I just got a sh5 and am trying to put it in the bridge position and leave the neck and middle pickup factory. SD diagrams only explain how to do it if you use all of their pickups for every position. Ibanez only shows whats what with their pickups which only have three wires and the SD has four. Is this even possible? Please help!

Re: HSH Ibanez wiring help

I tried wiring it with the SD diagram and nothing worked, then went back to the Ibanez diagram and everything works but the SD in the bridge position. At this point I dont care if I only use the two humbuckers.

Darren, don't give up. This is easy to do. On your new Duncan, solder the red & white wires together(to each other), then that 2-wire combo goes to where your old Ibanez white wire was. Solder the new Duncan's black wire to where the old Ibz red wire was. Finally, solder green & bare of the new Duncan to ground (back of pot).

Gotcha, so here's another problem my guitar never had the smaller capacitor that on the volume pot in the ibanez diagram. What should I do?

Re: HSH Ibanez wiring help

That's just a treble-bleed cap on your volume pot. It keeps your sound from getting dark/muddy when you turn your volume down. It does not do anything when volume is full on. You can leave it right where it is; it will work the same way w/your new Duncan. Or, remove it if you want--some like a little treble cut w/the volume down.
