I'm using a 5-way Schaller Megaswitch & even though the wiring diagram is set up for hum-cancellation in all split positions I'm getting some mild hum in positions 2 and 3. Colour codes and wires have all been accounted for and correctly configured .
Switch config / positions:
1 - Bridge HB (No Hum)
2 - Bridge North Coil + RW/RP South Middle (No hum)
3 - Bridge South Coil + Neck North Coil (Mild Hum)
4 - Neck North Coil + RW/RP South Middle (Mild Hum)
5 - Neck HB (No Hum)
(All positions are in Phase)
The Hum is not quite as loud as a typical strat or tele Single coil by itself but I have also wired other guitars with the same switch & had no issues.
I tried flipping the Hot/Cold wires of the Neck pickup but then it was out of phase with the bridge & middle so I swapped them back.
Any ideas as to why its humming only in Neck split positions ?
The Neck HB is a low putput paf & only has a 3.8k split coil compared to the 5.7k Middle pickup and 7k Bridge Slug coil ? Could the mismatch between neck/middle and Neck/bridge lead to less effective hum-cancelling in those positions ?
