HsH setup w thrash factor set, middle pickup?

I would like some opinions as to which pickup you think would sit nicely in-between the trash factor JB and the 59' neck model that is the thrash factor set. I was looking at either the hot stack of little 59'. I need it to be vintage or medium output. It will be used primarily for playing punk rock. Going into a poplar strat with a floyd rose. Thanks for the feedback!

Thr Lil 59 and other single-coil sized humbuckers like it (e.g. JB Jr.) deliver a fat humbucker type sound. Whereas stack singlecoils like the Hot Stack and other non-stack singlecoils, deliver singlecoil type sounds. So these are two very different tone types. Which is completely aside from how hot each one is and how well each one will balance

So, i would recommend your first decision to make, is do you want a single coil type of sound from the middle position, or a humbucker type of sound from the middle position? Once you determine that, then you can identify candidates within each category that will balance well with your other neck and bridge pickups.

Good points. I would maybe lean towards a hot single coil sound in there simply because you don't see a lot of HHH guitars out there. However, I've always been curious about experimenting with that middle position because unlike many folks, I love the middle pickup, and in fact in my college ska/punk band I played many a distorted power chord through the middle (noiseless) single coil of my Strat. It was the most audible in our thick mix.

Hot single coils have a nice "bark" that low output single coils don't have and a "spank" that most humbuckers don't have. Just a cool tone once you spend some time with it. No idea how well it'll blend with other positions though as I have no legitimate experience with HSH guitars.

For more of a (hot) single coil sound, look at the Custom Hot Stack. Cool thing is that the guitar will be hum-free, too! It is also a different sound than a hot humbucker sound that you already have.

I am looking for more of a hot single coil type sound I would have to say. It must be vintage or medium output and I would prefer it to be hum canceling. I use the number 2 position (b+m) be alot so I need it to balance with the thrash factor set. Thanks again fellas.

Quarter Pound Strat. It's almost P90-like.
Has true singlecoil bite with extra body, and enough muscle to stand up to humbuckers.
It isn't hum cancelling but for punk rock it'd kick ass.

Vintage ain't gonna balance. You have to go hot, medium if you faf with the heights. Hot stack or qp/custom.

I've narrowed it down to the vintage hot stack plus strat and the hot stack strat. I like the EQ on the first option a little better. Both are in my ideal output range. My idea of balanced is a hotter bridge and a vintage neck/middle. What are some thoughts on the hot stack for strat vs vintage hot stack plus for strat?

I had that set a few years back, with the Hot Stack for Strat in the middle. They balanced perfectly, so the Vintage Hot may lead to lower output when compared with the humbuckers. It's doable, but YMMV.

Wow... You've actually tried the thrash factor set with the hot stack in the middle? That's exactly what I was asking about. What's your opinion on the overall sound of the set. What positions were you mainly using? What were you playing? Thanks for the input.

JB / Hot Stack for Strat / 59, installed in an Ibanez RG527RLTD. Used the bridge 85 % of the time, using neck for parts of solos, and the Hot Stack for cleans, either by itself, or wired in paralllel with the 59. Very balanced tones on that axe, used at that time to play prog / melodic Death Metal.
