HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

When I had just one guitar it was my HSS with a JB, SSL-1 and YJM neck. Now that I have a second guitar for more heavy sounds the HSS DiMarizio PAF Pro (OEM version H8?), SSL-1 and STK-S6 in neck for some more open sound. YJM neck is great, I may put it back.

What would yoi compare the PAF Pro to in the Duncan line?

Pearly gates in the bridge, quarter pounder in the mid, and ssl1 in the neck

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

I think it's my favorite pickup combination.
Anyway, not a plenty of this type guitars I have this time.
Charvel 375 Deluxe with Jackson J90C and two Seymours SSL-4
Fender Tom Delonge Stratocaster with Seymour Duncan TB-4 and two DiMarzio SDS-1 in the neck and in the middle.
Charvel Model 2 with Jackson J90C in the bridge and two additionally (not stock) installed Jacksons J100 singles in the middle and in the neck. Sounds great at the 2nd and the 4th positions on the crunch.

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

That Delonge is a cool axe. I wish Fender made more hard tails.

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

Totally agree, it took some time to find it for affordable price.

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

If you get a Delonge strat, I suggest to change the bridge saddles. The stock ones are cast material that causes "meh" tone. I recommend the allparts "solid stainless import strat" saddles.

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

Nice. I have a few fender style axes that would probably benefit from a saddle upgrade.

Re: HSS Guitars. What do you have in yours?

I want one, with the intention of making myself a poor man's Robert Cray strat.

Yes, these hardtails are so expensive... either signature, or the Strats from the 70's. My reason of wanting this type was Jake E. Lee. Though I played a lot with the locking tremolos too a long period of time.

Oh, that's an interesting tip! At first I found these saddles a bit uncomfortable, but then get used to them. Worth trying. Thanks!

Actually that is a good question, I am not sure but I guess a medium output HB with some extra treble should do the trick.

Edit: I wonder if the Full Shred Bridge could be similar, it is famous for being bright and lesser low end which I have read to be a description of the PAF Pro

That's quite possible. I may have to try one, or, you know...just get a PAF Pro some day.

Could you say, please, what is the width of these saddles which you recommend? I wonder if Gotoh saddles will fit which I also consider to install on my guitar. Thanks!

I recall that I ordered the 10.5mm import saddles for 52.5mm string spacing. Unfortunately since I sold the guitar 4 years ago I am not 100% sure if the spacing is 52.5 or 54mm.
You should definitely measure the e-E string spacing on your guitar to check if it is 52.5mm (2 1/16") or 54mm (2 1/8")
Since I am in Australia I ordered from this site: https://www.realparts.com.au/bridge...eel-bridge-saddles-10-5mm-mexican-guitar.html
These ones from Guitar fetish look similar and will be much cheaper in the US: https://www.guitarfetish.com/Upgrad...its-import-or-USA-Trems-Set-of-Six_p_773.html

Teleplayer, thank you so much for detailed answer! I'll check the spacing, pretty sure that it's close to 52.2 mm. And yes, the first link I googled was at Guitar Fetish.
