HSS strat #2 position

So finished restoring my old beat up strat.
It has a DiMarzio super in the bridge and 2 vintage output Fender singles.
Im loving the late 70s early 80s hard rock the bridge gives. And the middle has kinda a Kenny Wayne Sheperdish tone. 1 3 4 and 5 sound good.
BUT!!! The number 2 position sounds like a toe down wah. Pretty useless unless I wanna play Stevie Wonder very superstisious.
Is there a way to fix that?? Perhaps reverse phase of one of the pups?
It is NOT a rw/rp middle pup

On HSS, I like the #2 position to auto-split the humbucker. That should provide very close to SSS #2 position tone. And, it can be done with the standard 5-way.

Another option would be to have the #2 position be: split humbucker, in series with the middle single, for a slightly "wider" bridge humbucker tone. That would require a Superswitch.

sounds like out of phase in pos 2? im guessing your old sd doesnt have 4 wire? if it does, flip hot and ground and see if that fixes the issue.

you can also do the auto split artie is talking about, but id sort phase first

Yea its an old one. Only hot/ground and a sheild so no split.
So ya think swap hot and ground on the Super? Will that effect its tone by itself? Cause it sounds killer in 1 position.

You could always switch out the switch and make that position the neck and bridge instead of middle and bridge (assuming the issue isn't a phase issue).
