The Floyd equipped one Full Shred, QP for Strat and SSL1.

The 6-point one Pearly Gates + 2x Antiquity I for Strat (A2).

The Floyd piece will probably be changed to a CC soon, and maybe I try hotrails in middle/neck.

Recently I have seen several new interesting articles in SD page. One about doing tricks with potentiometers in HSS config and a couple about Stacked single coils matching volume with HBs.

When I had my Washburn N6 they were the Seymour Duncan STKS5B (in the neck) / STKS5M (in the middle) and a Bill Lawrence L500 bridge pickup.

And on my Wahsburn KC-40v I had 2 Classic Stack Plus STK-S4 in the neck and middle and I was going back and forward between a TB-12 Screamin' Demon and a PATB-3 Blues Saraceno. I couldn't decide!

Both guitars were alder with Floyd Rose units, but the N6 had a Maple fretboard and the KC had a rosewood fretboard.

Does this balance out well? I was thinking of using a pearly with the texas specials in a strat build Im doing.

JB (A5 magnet reversed)
SSL-2 RWRP
SSL-6T (w/coil tap option)

3-way (JB Series, 5-way, SSL6T full)
5-way (JB Split (slug coil), JB Split+SSL2, SSL2, SSL2+SSL6T tapped, SSL6T tapped)

When the full SSL6T is selected on the 3-way, position 4 on the 5-way puts the parallel combination of the tapped SSL6T and the SSL2 in series with the rest of the windings of the SSL6T. Likewise, when JB Series is selected, position 2 on the 5-way puts the parallel combination of the slug coil of the JB and the SSL2 in series with the screw coil of the JB. This combination with the screw coil in series gives a spongy feel, yet still has authority which sounds killer with distortion.

The split JB combines perfectly with the SSL2 as does the tapped SSL6. The split JB by itself sounds great, too.

After 20 years I plan on replacing the SSL-6T with a noiseless option. I considered the STK-S6 but am now gravitating towards a DiMarzio side-by-side design. I'll likely start a new topic to solicit some wisdom.

An old thread but still relevant to anyone with an HSS. ;)

I've decided to replace the SSL-6T with an Air Norton S. Now I'm pondering feasible switching schemes, including:

1: JB (split or series)
2: JB (split or series) + SSL-2
3: SSL-2 + Air Norton S split
4: Air Norton S in parallel
5: Air Norton S in series

1-3 to have a 750k resistor in parallel with the 500k volume pot.

I'm a bit reluctant to drop the 3-way mini toggle with the middle position accessing the 5-way, however.

I'm considering whether to have the JB and AN together with each in series and/or possibly each split, but I think 2 and 3 are going to handle two-pickup clean tones just fine as it is. I'll also add an option to run the JB in parallel, but only if backing off the volume with treble bypass is going to give me a result similar to how Steve Morse uses the single coil pickup next to the bridge humbucker. I don't think I'll miss running the SSL-2 by itself.

I forgot to mention that the singles are angled with the low stings closer to the bridge. The guitar is a Roadstar II with the original Edge trem from 1986; basswood body, rosewood fretboard.

Not an HSS strat, but an H strat.

The finest hi output ceramic humbucker in the world: the SH-5 Custom.

- 3-way mini-switch does: series / tap / parallel

- 3-way blade does: 500k tone in / kill switch / 500k tone out

I am yourself from the future and I have come back to tell you this: You will eventually get that YJM Fury in neck and love it!!! and an SSL-1 in the middle as well.

Picked up a Squire Affinity back in September of 2014. I got it CHEEP.......$99.99.....considering it has a.....

B - SH-4
Already in it!
Other than that, it is all stock electronics and hardware. It sounds pretty descent amplified, but I don't like it acoustically. I think it would sound a lot better with a better body and bridge. Something like Alder and a OFR or even a better sustain block.
