Hughes & Kettner......

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

Seems cool. Honestly though, I spend too much time tweaking a dual channel amp . . . Six channels and I'd never play guitar.

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

Six differently voiced pre amps and an FX loop. It's not going to eliminate much in the way of pedals.

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

It will eliminate the endloss rows of little weeny overdrives and distructions ;)
That amp and some delay and reverb....could cover alot of ground!

I think it would be awesome to only have to have a wah pedal, tuner pedal and maybe my bigg muff pi (because I have become one with the muff).

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

Is it still modeling if you actually build all the amps inside the chassis?

I think it's blurring the lines a bit, but it sounds like it should be good enough for most purists. :D

Peavey's new Vypyr VIP Pro is supposed to be solid state rather than digital, which could be an awesome thing.

Oh, you mean analog? Tech 21 has been doing analog modeling for a number of years, and Behringer has had some good-sounding stuff that appears to have been inspired by those designs.

Yeah, except for the Tech 21 stuff has the speaker emulator hard wired into outputs, even on the effects loop. Completely f'ing useless.

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

Some years back I got some quality time with the original version. Cool amp but it was heavy as hell and pretty pricey. Also, the high gain channels weren't my cup o' tea. If it gives you a chubby, rock on. Nothin' wrong with H&K from a build standpoint.

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

i was just reading about it in GW. four 6L6 and two EL34 where you could mix and match the power tubes. six channels to boot. an amazing array of tonal configurations.

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

I'm not afraid of too many knobs. Just think of it as several amps lined up, or channels in a mixing board.

Years ago, everyone had dreams of an amp that would do everything perfectly. Now that it's a reality, it's funny to see players who want less versatility.

My main amp for 15 years has been the XTC, because no matter what else I own, the Bogner still beats it. It doesn't mean I don't still love my single channel amps.

That's kinda weird.

They only need a few knobs.

Re: Hughes & Kettner......

Not enough tubes either...:saeek:

It sounds pretty awesome & 6 channels is insane but it won't be much fun to lug around for gigs...
