hum canceling prevention

Re: hum canceling prevention

It doesn't say what the black stuff is.

Larger routes change the sound, no question. Good or bad? Well...

Re: hum canceling prevention

I wouldn't worry about hum problems at this point, or whether the black paint in the rout is conductive paint or not. Get the project underway and when it's completed, if you have hum it can be dealt with very easily at that point. But it may just turn out great with no problems.

Good luck on your project.

Re: hum canceling prevention

yeah, GuitarDoc. With a bridge humbucker, there really shouldn't be too much hum anyway. I can just drive up the gain and drown it out!! Love those JBs.

Re: hum canceling prevention

For the record, those Blacktop Fenders are a beautiful bargain. Haven't played one ever, but they look nice and alder wood is alder wood no matter if it's Mexican or American made, right?

Re: hum canceling prevention

Humbuckers (by their nature) aren't very noisy, but the single coils will be. If you're doing coils splits you might want to look into getting some copper tape to cover the inside of your guitar. I did, and it's much quieter (far less hum) when splitting to single coils. Maybe a tiny bit less noisy in full HB.

Money well worth it IMHO.
