Humbucker and G&L Magnetic Field Design Pickups...

hello,
I've got a G&L Tribute S500 and i'm looking for a humbucker in bridge position ( single coil size ) that works with the G&L Magnetic Field Design single coil pickups...
i've tried a Seymour Duncan "Jeff Beck Jr." and it doesn't work very well...
Have you got an idea? :19:

Many Thanx

Sorry for my english, i'm french... :p

welcome to the forum!!

what didnt you like about the jb jr? did you want more output, more bass ect...

Re: Humbucker and G&L Magnetic Field Design Pickups...

I'd go with open sounding A5 humbuckers like a trem 59B or C-5, although they're fullsized, and you'd need another pickguard from Chandler, who makes G&L's guards. The problem with a JB Jr is that it's a big midrange honk, next to the scooped and open sounding G&Ls. The 59 is the best mate for them, but if you want that tone with more balls, get the C-5 TB-14.

Edit - Maybe the Twangbanger or Fralin Steel Pole 43 would be the best singles.
If you're going hotter, maybe a Cool Rails bridge would be good, and less murky than the JB Jr. or Hot Rails.

I'm not really familiar with GL (I'm ashamed tho) but wouldn't a lil'59 fit in there? That could sound like a good idea since it'd be more along the Paf lines without the mid-peak of the jb jr.....

Thanks guys, :approve:

I don't think that the JB Jr. is the problem... I've seen that someone else has get the same problem with a DIMARZIO pickup (DP217 YJM)...the G&L Magnetic Field Design PU have got a biggest output than usual single coils...
I've got a Valley Arts with a SH6 and two SSL 1 ( one volume and one tone ), so i'm gonna put two G&L MFD on it to make a test...

Best regards
