It appears to be a JB wound on the Leesona winder they bought from Gibson, but no idea of the period...I'd be interested to know though as I have one too

l if for lidia daniel, not leesona. great pup, not sure the date off the top of my head but it shouldnt be too hard to narrow down the year range

Are you sure Jeremy?

I seem to remember that at one point someone posted a link with the codes and despite the common conception that JBLs were wound by Lidia Daniels, the L referred to the winding machine used being the Leesona...As ever I'm always open to learning more if someone has more accurate info.

In any case, mine came from a guitar built in '97 so would probably be a fair estimate of when the pickup was built, give or take.

its always been my understanding that the third letter is the winder. jbj is mj for example. all production jb models, and almost every bucker duncan makes is machine wound. id say all, but there may be an outlier than is hand guided that i dont know about, but i kinda doubt it. most paf style pups are wound on the leesona, not sure about the higher output models

I have a 59 neck with the L on the sticker. Please ref to the following link to decode the sticker. On the bottom of the page La list of all winders and the period they worked in seymour duncan. Unfortunately it's hard to reveal the built date but you will know for sure who wound the pickup
