Hi. Looking at putting in HB at bridge. Mainly play Classic rock- Allmans, Little Feat, Who, Steely Dan, Beatles, Traffic, Petty, etc through Fender Pro Reverb. Have Gibsons (SG, 335). Suggestions? I've seen SH 4 JB, '59, Alnico Pro ii. Thanks.

Can the Seth Lover be bought without a cover for the bridge, to fit with a Strat? Thanks for the response. Any preference among those you suggest?

Yeah, a Seth can be bought without a cover...just order it that way from any dealer. As far as which pickup...it depends on what you like in a bridge pickup. They all 'feel' more or less the same but have different EQ.

PG Plus might be great for that. That said, I was very happy with a 59B at the bridge on a Floydcaster for many years.
H-series Andersons are plucky and crisp, with excellent definition. They also split really well if that's a consideration.
The Anderson H2 balances nicely with vintage output singles, and it's still got some singlecoil mojo in its personality.

Are you certain a humbucker is what you want?

If you've got the Gibson tones covered already, a beefier singlecoil bridge could be another way to go.
Quarter Pound, or a Zhangbucker Paul Bunyan. Both beefier than vintage, yet less smooth & midrangey than humbuckers.

Or one of the Strat-sized humbuckers, like the Lil 59 or the Lil Screamin Demon.
Lil Demon is kind of underappreciated I think.

Is the Seth Lover without a cover less expensive? How would I order it from your SD site? Can I take one and just ignore the cover, or is there some mod necessary to be able to install without a cover? Thanks again.

The Seth has more upper mids, the Alnico II Pro is more true mids, with less bass and treble, while the 59 is scooped with lots of bass and treble and not many mids.

i think most paf type pups would work well for what you are going for. do you want something significantly different than your gibsons? do you know what pups you have in those guitars?

I don't know specifically what they arewithout researching. The instruments range from 2007 to 2017-- all stock pickups. Les Paul ('07), SG std., and 335. The pickups on them all sound pretty much alike to me. The Strat HB does not necessarily have to be different-- adding the single coils will do that. Just looking for something that plays well and gives back that vintage sound when wanted. Does anyone know if the American Professional ii comes routed for normal HB? I don't want to have to rout. If not, how'd the lil 59 sound?
. Thank you.

Mincer- not sure if routed fir normal HB. Of the single coil sized HB's, which is most like Seth Lover-- lil '59 or lil Pearly Gates?

You can look under the pickguard to see how it is routed. Neither really sounds like a Seth, but I'd say Little PG? The PG is brighter, but the Little 59 is closer to the Alnico II Pro to my ears.

I may just remove a cover myself. Are the bobbins on a new one likely to be black, not white or zebRA?
And is feedback for unwaxed really likely to be a problem?
Thanks again.

Most bobbins are black, but that's no guarantee. I've never had an issue with feedback (the bad kind) with my Seths.

Most Strats would use a Trembucker. Measure the spread of the strings at the bridge.

Not positive, but I don't think Duncan even offers a trembucker version of the Seth bridge.
Regular spaced bridge hums have worked fine for me in Strats.
