Humbucker-Origin Unknown. Identification HELP

Hi all.
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=7916&id=1674362500&l=20b7e18994 pups

Can anyone please apply their expertise and air any deductions as to what it may, or may not be.

It replaced the stock on a vintage high quality Yamaha.
It was imported from Japan, WITH these pups.
The covers soldering is not flush with the base.
The base seewms to be copper, not zinc - worrying.
They weigh 6oz. each.
I failed to measure impedance. Will do later - asap. Not so easy.

Thanks.

Hi,
the base is brass. Looks like a generic asian pickup, of which i have a dozen in my drawer. The cover was later fitted on.

Hi,
That's bad news.
Is there absolutely no chance that they could be something decent?
Its seems criminal not to upgrade or at least fit quality alternatives to such a classy guitar.
Thanks anyway.

4-conductor or 2 conductor? Most of the cheap import pickups I've seen only had 2 wires - red and blue or red and black or black and white - and had MK stamped in ink on the bottom.

But, as hamerfan said, typical generic Asian pickup.

I wouldn´t necessarily say that. Some of the "generic" pickups sound **** good, it´s just not usually the case. But I can rememebr the first PUs I ever had in my first electric, I swapped them out for Duncans and actually much preferred the way they sounded, so they went back in after about a week after adding a 3rd wire to give me splitting capability. I actually still have them flying around somewhere and plan to use them again some day. ;)

If they sound good to your ears and don´t have issues, they are "something decent" :beerchug:

I do however understand the way you feel, it seems odd to replace what were possibly better or more valuable PUs with them, but not knowing the circumstances that were there when they were swapped it´s a bit hard to pass judgement ;)

Thanks all, & Zerbius. I never heard them at stage levels, but they compared well against Schaller zebras an a SG & stock Yammy SG pups, through my Replitone pre-amp on full gain, low volume, through a desk. I will try & upload a a wiring view. It looks like cheapo, non braided, single core wire. White conductor sleeve. Is there any impedance clue to be gained here - are cheapo Asian pups of a specific rating?
