a togle switch.

this is only for a 1 pickup only guitar project

Re: Humbucker wirering ?

Welcome to the forum.

The Switchcraft toggle selector switch associated with Gibson electric guitars is a simple mechanical device that works by interrupting the signal path for whichever one of two pickups that is not required. In reality, it is a de-selector switch.

Selecting how the two coils of a hum-cancelling pickup will be connected requires more contacts than a normal Switchcraft toggle selector switch offers.

The most frequently used mode switch for series/parallel coil connections is a double pole, double throw (DPDT) on-on type. If you also require coil split, get a DPDT on-on-on switch.

This link will take you to the schematic diagram. http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=ssp You will require one DPDT switch per humbucker. Alternatively, if you require both humbuckers to be in the same mode at the same time, a 4PDT on-on switch is the solution.

Re: Humbucker wirering ?

Now, there is a gibson-style toggle that'll work - it's the more rare six-lug right-angle version "for three pickup guitars" and it's functionally equivalent to a DPDT on/on/on. Switchcraft also makes/has made/can make a straight switch with this configuration; good luck tracking one down, though. If you were to place a large enough order they could make you one with as many poles stacked on there as you could fit into a guitar.

Re: Humbucker wirering ?

Since it's just a single hummer guitar, you can get series, parallel, split to either coil separately just by using a Triple Shot ring. Then use the pup selector switch to cut out the tone pot (down) and for a kill switch (up).

Re: Humbucker wirering ?

Stew Mac has a new 5 way toggle that looks just like one from a les paul. I am not sure if that would work though
