Humbucker Wiring Question

I have a Jackson Dinky that had 2 Duncan Design pickups in it. There are 2 humbuckers, 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 3 way switch. I replaced the bridge pickup a while back just using the same color code and wiring as the one I took out. I just disconnected and reconnected the wires as they were connected already, because the wiring diagram that came with the pickups did not show how to do it according to what I have. This was a while back.

Well purchased a set of Duncan Distortion and I was looking at wiring them and I saw the Seymour Duncan Wiring diagram for the setup I have online and it is really different from the way they are connected in the guitar. If I was to attempt it myself should I just connect things the way they are now, using the same color wires going to the same places as the ones I am removing ? Or just disconnect all of it and rewire it like it shows in the diagram ? Or should I just take it to someone and let them wire it ? (Which is probably what I will do)..:scratchch

Just curious

EX: The pickups are wired the Black & Bare are both soldered to the top of the Tone pot, and the Green is going to the 3 way switch. For both (Neck & Bridge) pickups.
In the diagram from the Seymour Duncan site it shows the Bare & Green of both (Neck & Bridge) being soldered on top of the Volume pot and the Black going to the 3 way switch.
Confusing to me. :scratchch

Re: Humbucker Wiring Question

Seymour Duncan and Duncan Designed pickup use the same four conductor colour codes and in the same order.

What I often find on HSS guitars is that the green and black conductors of the humbucker are reversed so as to make the auto coil split work via the second pole of the lever selector switch.

On your HH guitar, if you replace both humbuckers simultaneously, the phase and magnetic polarity relationships will remain the same.

For ease of future servicing, it would be sensible to conform to the schematic diagrams for American-made Duncan pickups.

Re: Humbucker Wiring Question

Thanks....I agree with what you say about the diagram, that's kind of why I asked the question.:14:..I am just replacing the bridge pickup though, so it should be okay following the color codes the way it is now if I wire it up. Just didn't want to damage anything is all. Thanks for the reply I appreciate the help.
