humbuckers on an acoustic

Re: humbuckers on an acoustic

I think you would do better by addressing the problem in the opposite direction=
Get an electric with humbuckers, add a piezo saddle bridge, an seperate volume control, and output- a la Pete Townshend.

ye maybe, but i already have an acoustic and spare pickups and pots and everything, dont really wanna spend more money on a piezo bridge for an electric.

Re: humbuckers on an acoustic

i know I'm not the first one to think of it.
i have the piezo pickup for an acoustic tone, i want the magnetic pickup for more of an electric tone so i can use both in one song together or separate ie acoustic verse with a overdriven chorus but keep the acoustic sound in the background through a different amp if you get what i mean.

Give it a shot man. Why not?

You could rig up the acoustic in a soundhole plug, like a feedback buster and hotwire the 'bucker right to an output jack to see if you like it. If you do then work on a more 'permanent' solution. Like my buddy who has the bi-amped acoustic... he's drilled extra holes in his guitars, custom cables etc. Worst that happens is you don't like it or find it unusable... just don't drill the guitar apart until you know!
