Humbucking Bass pickups?

in the style of EMG's? what do people think of the tone that active bass pickups deliver? i like the iron maiden steve harris bass tone, for that style, but i also like a lot of the newer bass tones in some metal bands like slayer, in flames, and children of bodom, which use like, EMG DC 35's or something. any input would be appreciated!

I think EMG bass pickups sound bad. The active Musicman and G&L humbuckers sound excellent, though. The Stingray sound is one of the three classics - the other two being Precis and Jazz.
