No. The people here are contributing members - we know them. People who blow in, create an account for the sole purpose of driving traffic to their ebay listings are not contributing members.

..and it also ain't Kosher for ANYONE, even established member, to use this as a promotion platform for their E-Bay sales. The commonly accepted etiquette on message board classifieds is that it's acceptable to advertise E-Bay auctions only after trying unsuccessfully to sell the item here for some time via the classifieds.

I agree. However, did any of you ever see Almost Never doanything but come on the forum to sell his gear? You kinda see his point, seeing how it is tolerated for "members with a few posts" to just pop here and use the forum as a classifieds site almost exclusively...

I've been here for ten years. That said, I don't discuss much because talking about gear gets sort of dull. I mostly discuss when I have a question or see one I can answer.

I know, I bought a 4-track recorder way before 2004 (on the old version of the forum). My point is still that you have 140 posts since the new version came along 10 years ago... You've been a member for a long time yes. Contributing? Not so much... but you do come here when you have gear to sell.

I'm not really defending him, only suggesting there are plenty of people who use this site mainly for sales, whether they contributed more at one point or not. Forums have slowed down as information becomes easier to search and other sites centralize the discussion into large, multi-topic sites rather than a dozen specific forums for every interest.
