haha, yea, great minds think alike. The VH100R is a notoriously noisy head for really high gain stuff. Basically I got the MXR as a birthday present and it does its job perfectly. It does cut my tone a little more than the ISP because it is a true gate, however its only really noticeable on the clean channel. The other guitarist in my band uses an ISP so I have tried it with my amp fairly often. If I was going to buy a new noise suppressor it would be the ISP. However, I haven't needed to because the MXR is fine for what I use it for.
