Hutchinson Guitar Concepts has just released the third Viking Explorer concept. This time a custom built 6 string based on Odin’s spear Gungnir. The centre panel depicts the Sons of Ivaldi from Norse Mythology, forging the spear. While the spear-tip headstock is carved with magical runes.

Specifications include 5 piece mahogany/walnut neck, ebony fretboard with Gar rune inlays and a mahogany body with ash top. Seymour Duncan Dimebag Darrell set with custom covers, and a Gotoh locking tremolo.

Similar work can be commissioned through his website. As each guitar is a one off, anything is possible. Custom concept builds start around £2500 GBP.

More designs are available through the Hutchinson Guitar Concepts website. The website features a portfolio of finished instruments inspired by wide ranging themes and executed through hundreds of hours of intricate wood carving, masterful finishing and state of the art electronics.

do they use primarily Duncans in their guitars? If they do, I'd love to feature them in a blog.

That is cool! Love the headstock shape.. Looks like its made of metal.. I so def see the guys in Amon Amarth rocking these!!

Not my thing but my buddy Black Metal Dave would walk through a river of fire for that axe. It is beautiful, nice craftmanship.

Their work is always stunning. Its a shame they're waaaaay out of my price range.
