Huzzah! Finally, I Can Haz Recordings!

I've been interested in recording some stuff for a long time. I finally got a fire under my butt in the form of my drummer being a lazy bastard, so I decided that I wanted to make some nice recordings.

I marked off the center of both of my speakers as you can't really see through this grill cloth. I've only got one mic stand to use two mics with, so I'm going to go to GC when I get paid on Wednesday and get a desk sized mic stand to mic the bottom speaker (Cannabis Rex, top one is a Texas Heat) Imma be recordin in STEREOOOO.

My humble setup. My dad let me borrow his Air so that when my parents are out this week, I can use their closet as an iso room to record my guitar. They have the only walk in closet without hardwood floors in the house. Once my dad takes his Mac back, I'll have to learn how to use Reaper. Should be fun though. I only own one SM-57, but my drummer let me borrow his since he never uses it. I'll probably get a Sennheiser e906 at some point to complement the SM-57.

So for everyone that's ever bugged me for demos of my various TGP-approved pedals, I assure you, they're coming. (I'm looking at you, CTN) I'll be running down my whole pedalboard, one piece at a time.

I'm sure there will be plenty, but I at least did a quick test recording with just the one mic and it sounded pretty good. At least it worked.

It wasn't easy getting it set up though - for some reason, both my computer with Reaper and my dad's with Garageband wouldn't recognize the Mbox at all. Well, the computers would, but the DAW's wouldn't.

Huzzah! My first clip is up!

I spent the day working on original music, but Garageband is a ****ing ***** to make click tracks with. But, I did get a good bit of experience with panning, double tracking (which I've never done before, WOW does it sound good) and a bunch of other stuff. Looking forward to when I can get my interface hooked up to Reaper so I can program click tracks to lay down my tunes over. It'll make double tracking so much easier, I think.

Nah the Mbox is working. Not with my computer, but my dad's. He had the same problem though, so I'll get it to work on my computer.

I use Logic Pro 10. When I installed this software into my desktop computer, I had to get into Settings and tell the upgraded DAW what input device I would be using. I also had to download the latest driver software for the interface device.
