Re: Hybrid Bass Amp

Dude... you have the least amount of information in your ops I've ever seen.

This is an amp you want to build? buy? ...?

Re: Hybrid Bass Amp

Why would you bother? Would cost a fortune to have someone cobble all that together. Much easier to just buy a practice amp and then 2 amps to use on stage.

Re: Hybrid Bass Amp

why reinvent the wheel? There are plenty of bass amp manufacturers out there already trying to build the best and most flexible rig and spending a lot of money, research time and rescources to doing it. Go out and try some amps and see if any of them give you the sound you want.

Re: Hybrid Bass Amp

I'm building a 500 watt bass amp with a master volume 2 channel amp with one clean/moderate gain and the other super fuzzed. Channel 1 tube with 4 band Baxandall Eq & channel 2 MOSFET/tube with Sunn Coliseum Bass style Eq. What tubes should I use for this am and how many?

Re: Hybrid Bass Amp

Switching between two different power amp type is going to add huge $$$ to your build. You would need three different power supplies; 1 for the tube output, 1 for the tube preamp (to keep the voltage constant) and one for the solid state output...not to mention an EXTREMELY robust method of switching two output sections with very different off state loading requirements. You'd be WAY better off with a shared solid state output and switch between preamps.

If you think you are capable of building this, why ask these questions? You seem to have the answers any way.
