ive tried an a2 59n, seth neck and pgn. they are all pretty close dcr and use the same wire as far as i can tell, and are wound on the same machine but the pgn sounds different to me. 100 turns isnt all that much, most people probably couldnt hear the difference.

that said, if i wanted a hybrid, id just buy two used pups and do it myself rather than going cs

Some people are not comfortable doing a mag swap and would rather pay more money to have someone else do it, they are hesitant about possibly breaking a small wire or something and damaging the pickup.

I got a couple of a2 mags coming, going to try putting on in a suhr DSH (alnico 5) I have lying around. Or a Norton. I definitely want the softer top and feel of the A2 mag.

If neither of these work I will try the custom/59 hybrid with the A2 mag.

The emg 57/66 is just too hyped in comparison to passives. Useless to me...I guess the metal guys like them, which i can understand.
