Re: Hybrid H&K clip
Suggest some layering styles that would work, I'm open for any advice. What about takin out frequencies below...was it 70hz?
When I say layering I just mean taking another pass through with another amp.
Ex: (2 tracks each) 5150/Recto, Recto/Krank, Warhead/Recto, 5150/XXX, 5150/Krank, Marshall/Recto, etc.
Using one amp to fill out the frequencies the other may lack, or just to improve the overall sound. With your current tone, I'd go for a more cutting/mid present amp (5150, Framus, Krank, Warhead), or dial your tone in for a less ballsy tone, and layer in a really ballsy amp (Recto).
As far as filtering, I usually HPF at 60-80hz, depending on the tuning. Start at 60 and move up until you notice it, and then back off a bit. I also LPF at anywhere from 10-13hz, depending on the cabinet (I get a lot of 10/12khz fuzz with my Rivera, but very little with my Mesa, and both have V30's). Same basic rule applies as far as cutting in and backing of, but it's really just to take care of some top end fuzz, and isn't always necessary.
