Hybrids!

Re: Hybrids!

I will have to try a DD with 2 slug coils so I can make it look like a Stag Mag to match the real Stag Mag in the neck. And to try making a '59 into a Stag Mag.

That combo tends to sound better with an A5 or the Ceramic from a Custom...

I could understand the ceramic, but I want nothing resembling the icepickyness (if that's a word) of the JB or the scooped sound of the C5.

Have you actually tried these 2 pickups in your guitar?

I tried the JB in my Heritage and thought it was too icepicky.

In my old LP I tried the C5 and it sounded too gutless.

I made a gibson version of the CC and liked it (498T+A2 mag). I like the the sound of the CC but want the extra oomph offered by the JB/Dist. coil.

Maybe you would prefer the A2 magnet then!

LOL :laugh2:

I REALLY appreciate your help BachToRock! What's your particular take on the different tonalities expressed with the different magnets with this particular hybrid.

Re: Hybrids!

a lil off topic, but i'd love to see a hybrid of the JB and the ibanez AH2. hopefully it would have the powerful highs of the AH2 and the chug power of the JB.
