I have:
Fender Stratocaster
Epiphone Les Paul Custom Wine Red
Epiphone SG-400 (with Seymour Duncan Jazz/Invader)
Gibson Melody Maker V

now the problem is I LOVE the Fender to death... PROBLEM is I like Fender/Jackson/Charvel neck profile and they feel right and my epi's and gibson dont feel right... at all I am not wanting to play em and they don't attract me at all...

I used to have a Jackson Rhodes that I sold because my friend convinced me it was crap and I kinda started to believe it now that I remember it was my nicest feeling guitar... didn't sound good because it was bad amp and pickups so I was convinced it was garbage but I look back and it felt right...

I can't sell my 3 guitars or two since I don't mind the Sg too bad because my parents would kill me! and they don't want me buying anymore/ selling anymore so like what? I just can't stop playing guitar... I don't know what to do and I can't explain it to them since they would think I am spoiled and just looking for new guitars for the heck of it.... so I don't know what to do!

please help/advice needed...

Re: I am in a instrumental predicament

i've been there and i just put the least liked guitars away for a while. then i try them again after idle months and i like them again. in my mind each guitar should be different in their own way. i think you can learn to fall back in love with the epis and gibson. just let them rest for a while.

Re: I am in a instrumental predicament

Your 15 and own 4 guitars... I would hazard to guess they already think you are spoiled. But its pretty simple if your that turned off by the necks on the guitars you own now you need to dump them and get something else. Sorry but I dont have too much sympathy for your plight how do you wind up with 4 guitars that you dont like the feel of? Listening to the salesman at GC or something? I can see 1 but 4 at the same time seems like your stabbing in the dark. Dont get caught up in gear if you really want to play guitar that bad you will do it no matter the neck shape. When I first started playing I didnt have money for spare strings so if one broke I was fubard. So i would wind extra string length around the tuner post and then if the string broke at the bridge saddle on the floyd (and most did) I would unwind some string off the post and keep rockin... Feeling the weird indentations from the frets and all. If you really want to play you will find a way.

Your best bet is going to be to just hit this head on. Tell your parents that you got the other guitars not knowing what you liked in a neck and now you have discovered they dont work for you and you would like to sell them so you can buy something that you do like. Then just go with whatever they say. Worst case scenario is you pick up a side job and make some money and buy one in a couple months.

uh ok... I love my Fender as stated the neck and all feels right and its like I have had the SG for 3 years but as I get better I find my hand doesn't go around it as easy as my strat and when I first try them they feel good for a while about 3-6months then it starts not feeling to good...

Yes you may say I am spoiled but I bought the LP and Gibson myself I worked around my city and got enough and bought them... I got the Fender as a gift from my parents on our vacation to Toronto and I got the SG as a 2nd guitar about 3yrs ago so in a way yes I am spoiled and in a way I am not...

also.. "Your Plight"?!?! what? just because I work and buy my instruments I am now classified as a plight?!?! hahaha no...

Re: I am in a instrumental predicament

I think if you are willing to give a couple up for another, they would understand. Just saying " I need another!" Then that looks more like you are just trying to aquire more gear. Be honest and say that having played them, they just dont feel right. We've all been there. Took me a long time and going thru too much gear to find out what really feels good to me. (I still fluctuate from time to time.) But again, just be honest and say you are more inspired by the Jackson neck shape.

If your working and its your money then you have no problem then do you? Work some more buy another guitar and life is good? Btw when I said "plight" I was being sarcastic. Its really a non problem.

Re: I am in a instrumental predicament

Have you ever heard the phrase, "shut up and play your guitar"? I think that may apply in this case.
